Last Sunday I went to 8th Karachi International Book Fair at the Expo Center and returned with bags loaded with books! I mainly buy books from Paramount and Liberty Books and this year also, as usual I shopped from them. Sadly, Paramount's range has decreased for me over the years so I bought only 3 books from there and rest are from Liberty.
Now to be honest, I haven't read much classics rather mainly fictions and chicklits as a young girl. However, for a change this year I tried picking up books mostly by classic authors.
Gabriel García Márquez; Nobel Prize winner in Literature.
To Kill A Mocking Bird by Harper Lee; bought this on a friend's suggestion.
Paulo Coelho.
Honestly, the name of this book, "White Teeth" , made me to pick it. I have a thing for white teeth! :P The blurb says that it's a comedy so I'm looking forward to it. ;)
I got this knowing that it was the best seller of the year but perhaps, it turned out to be a bad piece of literature. This was an impulsive purchase. I should have done some research beforehand. Anyways, I don't recommend buying this.
Lastly, I couldn't keep myself from buying another chicklit! BUT it's Meg Cabot! After reading her Airhead Trilogy, I wanted to read more of her work. Too bad that I couldn't get Queen of Babble's first part. I won't be reading this until I get that.
Oh, and I got this little goodie bag kinda thing from Liberty for shopping there!
Contains bookmarks, pencil and a badge! :D
Now these are what I bought from Paramount;
I have read Shakespeare a lot at school and I do have a lot of his books but this one is actually a collection and it was only for 300 PKR so I had to get this.
Adventures of Huckleberry Finn; Mark Twain
I know this is a children's novel and I'm still a kid!! You got a problem with that?! -_-
The artist in me picked this origami book by Rob from M.A.D ^_^
I know these are a lot and it exceeded my budget but I only buy books at fairs. Plus, there are just a couple of them each year and I do go crazy when it comes to books! :/
